[via Scripting News] "Civil libertarian John Gilmore today challenged as unconstitutional a secret federal rule that requires domestic US travelers to identify themselves."

This strikes me as petty, but then again I don't really give a damn about who knows where I am because I have nothing to hide. I'm sure that there are plenty of spouses that would love to know where they can send requests for child support, or even where to find their kids that have been abducted by their ex.

I can hear CNN now....

Meanwhile in other business news, the CEO of Dewey, Cheetham, and Howe has disappeared somewhere in the United States. He is currently under investigation for alleged accounting malpractice. Current rules do not allow the government to track movement within the States so it might take a while before we figure out where he is"

Part of what makes living in a democracy so difficult is knowing where to draw the lines that separate state and private issues. I guess I'd rather have a grey line and argue on a case-by-case basis than no lines at all. There is always a lot of talk about civil rights, but we also need some discussion on civil resposibilities. 1:09:34 PM
