There are 8 beautiful varieties offered this year, including the very rare "Daybreak" (in limited quantities). All trees arrive balled/burlapped, and are at least 4-5' high (most are larger). For protected locations in Owen Sound, all varieties shown will be hardy if properly cared for, but if you are in a more exposed area you may wish to purchase "Encore" or "Goldstar" as they are the hardiest.
Butterfly
Magnolia 'Butterflies' - $70
M. acuminata x M. denudata 'Sawada's Cream'
Phil Savage's most notable hybrid is patented 'Butterflies'. Considered to be the most superior form of yellow today, this magnolia has a much deeper colour than 'Elizabeth' and is quite cold-hardy. Neat growing, upright tree with intermediate sized flowers will soon become one of the most popular magnolia hybrids.

Eye-catching deep lavender flowers shaped like a saucer. Medium growing, with low branching form. A popular variety, hardy. Will grow to 25'.

Golden Endeavour
Magnolia "Golden Endeavour' - $70
M. cordata 'Miss Honeybee' x 'Sundance'
Deep yellow coloured magnolia with heavy textured cup-shaped flowers in the 5" range, produced in tremendous numbers. Later flowering, slow growing and will remain a smaller 15-20' tree at maturity.

Daybreak
Magnolia 'Daybreak' - $150
M. x 'Daybreak'
Late flowering, this exciting magnolia offers colour into early summer. Tall, columnar form is versatile for city gardens and side yards. Unusual coral blush pink flowers are 8 to 10" wide and going strong when other Magnolias are through. This tree is shaped like a Bradford Pear, growing about 18' tall. A very rare specimen.

Magnolia 'Sunburst' - $70
M. 'Woodsman' x M. 'Goldstar'
Very deep canary yellow flowers. Narrow petals that open into an upright, narrow flower approx. 5" tall. Flowers open when they just begins to emerge. In bloom the tree appears to be covered with candle flames. Beautiful foliage that is heavy textured and quilted, maturing to 6" wide and 8" long. Leaves have wavy margins. Growth habit is upright with fairly fast growth rate. Mature height 30’.

Bright yellow tulip-like blooms with magenta purple veins appear as the leaves emerge. Mature height approximately 30'.

Goldstar
Magnolia 'Gold Star'
M. Acuminata subsp. Subcordata 'Miss Honeybee' x M. Stellata 'Rubra'
A light yellow Phil Savage introduction with star-shaped flowers. New growth has a reddish-bronze cast in summer. Densely branched, symmetrical shrub reaches 20-25 feet at maturity. Very hardy.

Magnolia 'Encore' - $70
Magnolia x loebneri 'Encore'
An August Kehr introduction, 'Encore' produces white flowers with a slight touch of pink at the base. A slow growing, heavy blooming star magnolia. Long flowering period, as the name implies, leaving a carpet of flowers on the ground. Perfect for smaller spaces.

Yellowbird
Magnolia 'Yellow Bird' - $70
M. Acuminata x (M. x brooklynensis 'Evamaria')
Enjoy the 2-3 week flowering period of this upright, hardy magnolia. A terrific yellow-flowered selection which blooms as the leaves emerge. Its yellow flowers have a slight tinge of green at the base of the outer tepals. Excellent colour and consistency of bloom. Eventually reaches 40'.
