Great News! The 2003 Magnolia Shipment is arriving and will be available for pickup on late Friday, April 11 or early Saturday, Aprl 12 at Town and Country Nursery just south of Owen Sound.
The magnolia planting project in Owen Sound has been growing each year since 1999, and after Spring 2003 we will have planted over 1000 new magnolia trees in our community!
Our aim is to have a collection of trees in both public spaces and private yards that beautifies and enlivens our early springtime streets far into the future.
The project involves various community groups such as The Georgian Bay Garden Club, the Scouts of Canada, Communities in Bloom, the Parks and Recreation Department of Owen Sound, and The Children's Aid Society, along with many private business and citizens.
This year we are lucky to have 600 new trees arriving, including a large variety of the exceptional rare yellow hybrids which are expected to be hardy in our relatively harsh climate.
